how to doodle a snail.
ten lines, and the first two do most of the work: a circle and a spiral. then it's just a snail getting dressed.
step by step
-

a circle. the shell. roundish is fine.
-

a spiral. start in the middle and wind out. two turns are enough.
-

the body. a long flat foot under the shell, rising up at the front into a head.
-

two stalks. two short lines up from the head, a little apart.
-

a smug face. one small curve. nose in the air.
-

a beret. an acorn cap tipped back on its head, with a little stem. done. very well dressed.
what makes a snail cute
- shell first. the spiral tells everyone it's a snail before there's any snail.
- long and low. a snail's body is mostly foot.
- swap the shell. a planet, a pumpkin: anything round can be the shell.
three more snails to try

send your snail to someone
in wiggle together you draw it in black pen, fold it into a paper plane and throw it to a moon you share with one friend. they color it in, and every line keeps wiggling, like the snails on this page.
