how to doodle a ghost.
seven lines. this one isn't even a ghost: it's a sheet that blew off the washing line, and everyone has got the wrong idea.
step by step
-

one sheet. a round top, then let it trail off to the side with a wavy bottom edge. it's flying, so it leans.
-

the clothespin. a little peg on the very top. that's how you know it's laundry.
-

eyes. two small dots, close to one side. small eyes look worried.
-

an 'oh no'. a little round mouth under the eyes.
-

a gust. two short lines behind it. done. a ghost, by accident.
what makes a ghost cute
- wavy at the bottom. a wavy hem is the whole ghost. the rest is just a round top.
- small face, big sheet. keep the eyes and mouth tiny and close together.
- give it a reason. a peg, a bucket, sunglasses. a ghost with a story isn't scary.
- lean it. a ghost standing straight looks like a tent. tip it, and it floats.
three more ghosts to try

send your ghost to someone
in wiggle together you draw it in black pen, fold it into a paper plane and throw it to a moon you share with one friend. they color it in, and every line keeps wiggling, like the ghosts on this page.
